Where we push
Six levers on price and terms
A factory quote is a starting position, not a fact. These are the six things we work on to move your price and tighten the terms that sit behind it.
Target cost and should-cost build-up
We work out what the product ought to cost from its materials, components, labour and packaging — then negotiate against that number, not against the first price we are given.
Quote comparison, line by line
Factory quotes rebuilt to the same structure so like is compared with like: unit price, tooling, packaging, lead time and the charges that hide in the total.
Payment and commercial terms
Payment schedule, deposit and balance, delivery window and penalties negotiated and written down, so the terms you agree are the terms the factory is held to.
Quantity, spec and MOQ trade-offs
Where a small change to specification, carton count or order size moves the unit price, we put the trade-off to you before you commit to it, not after.
Cost-down at the source
Value engineering with the factory: substitute materials, fewer components, smarter packaging and changes to the run that lower cost without lowering the product your customer sees.
Terms locked before production
Once agreed, price, specification and commercial terms are confirmed in writing and held for the order — no quiet re-quotes once the tooling has been paid for.
Cost structure
Where your unit price actually comes from
A price is only negotiable if you know what is inside it. We break the number into its parts so you can see which lines are competitive and which are worth challenging.
Material and components
Usually the largest line in the product. Grade, thickness, tolerances and the price of the raw material at the time of order all move it — and all of them can be revisited at the specification stage.
Tooling and set-up
Moulds, dies, plates and setup time are often folded into the unit price. We check whether you are paying for the tooling once or on every order, and whose property it becomes.
Labour and processing
Hours per unit, line speed and how efficiently the factory runs the batch. A supplier with the right equipment charges less for the same work than one making do with what it has.
Packaging and presentation
Retail packing, inserts, cartons and palletising can carry a surprisingly large share of the cost. Moving from gift packaging to bulk can shift the unit price more than changing the product.
Freight, consolidation and landed cost
The price at the factory gate is not the price you pay. We cost the whole journey — inland haulage, consolidation, sea or air freight and the charges that attach to the shipment.
Duty, tax and destination charges
Tariff classification, duty rates and handling at destination decide what the goods really cost once cleared. We review them with you at quotation stage, so the landed cost is known before the order, not after it lands.
How it runs
From brief to a signed-off price
- BriefYou tell us the product, the quantity, the destination and your target price. If you have a number to hit, we want it at the start, not at the end.
- Source & quoteWe go to suitable factories, gather quotes and rebuild them into one comparable format, with the cost structure behind each number.
- Negotiate price and termsWe negotiate unit price, tooling, payment terms, lead time and penalties against your target — and report back on what moved and what would not.
- Approve and confirm in writingYou approve the supplier and the terms. Price, specification and commercial conditions are confirmed in writing before production starts.
- Produce, inspect and shipThe agreed cost is held through production, inspection and consolidation, and the goods leave China on the terms you signed off.

Common questions
Before you negotiate
How is your own fee charged?
Our fee is a commission on the order, agreed before any work starts: 7% for private clients and 5% for entrepreneurs, with a partner plan discussed case by case. It is confirmed in writing before we begin, so there is no movement later.
Do you negotiate on my behalf, or just pass on quotes?
We negotiate. We take your target price to the factory, build the cost up from its components, and push on the lines that can actually move — material grade, tooling treatment, packaging and order quantity. You see what changed and what did not.
Can you show me where the cost of my product sits?
Yes. We break a unit price into its parts — material, processing, packaging, tooling, freight and fees — so you can see which lines are competitive and which are worth challenging before you place the order.
What if the factory will not move on price?
Then we tell you so and put the alternatives in front of you: a different specification, a different quantity or a different supplier. A price that cannot be justified is a reason to look elsewhere, not to accept it.
Can you cut cost without changing the product?
Often. Changes to packaging, carton fill, component count or the size of the run can lower the unit cost while the product your customer sees stays the same. We put each option to you with the saving and the trade-off attached.
Ready to take cost out of your order?
Send us the product, the quantity and the price you need to hit. We will tell you where the cost sits and what we can move.
